I had tumblr but i deleted it because its a fucking p i s s t a k e
and in all honesty its just created problems.
I'm not one to push blame onto other things, at least i hope not, but i am not accepting the whole world on my shoulders. I actually understand that the world doesn't revolve around me, in both ways.
1. The sun doesn't shine up my arse
2. everything isn't always entirely my fault.
in all honesty if i stopped breathing right now, what would happen? sure, some people may grieve but then everyone moves on in the end, and when they die I'd be nothing but a distant far off memory, barely remembered and soon to be forgotten, just like everyone else that grieved for me.
Put that into perspective why don't you
and if that is true, then really what's the point in any of us living?
Do you believe in the so called sanctity of life? because i fucking don't.
we either live for the recreations of our past or the possibility of the future, and anyone who can truly live in the future, i applaud and idolise.

once in history we were learning about north korea and south korea
so we got them up on google maps
and you can’t see north korea its just the outline because they’re so secretive and shit
so we went on eath view/terrain or whatever and zoomed in and then we got scared because someone was like what if they know we’re looking at them and my history teacher was like what if a bunch of the north korean secret police burst in and took us away
and then we got secretly scared so we closed google maps.
the more you know..
history revision
Annie: what was trench warfare though?
Ekla: they built trenches so that they wouldn't get hit by artillery because it was a war of attrition and it was the race to the sea and shit like that
Annie: so they dug in the ground?
Ella: well yeah
Annie: and they lived there?
Ella: yeah
Annie: did they make it like homely? Like sweet if they lived there and like beds and stuff
Ella: well it was a war so I doubt it would be too comfortable

rapture?
earlier there was this chinese lantern floating in the air
and I was like “do you reckon thats the only christian thats been saved?
i thought it was quite witty personally
and also apparently
there was meant to be a judgment day in 1994 where loads of christians gave away all their money and sold their possesions waiting to be taken for heaven
…
and wouldnt it be funny if 4 men rented some horses and dressed up then rode around town pretending to be the 4 horsemen judging everyone or whatever
lol done with rapture thing now.
The Most beautiful man alive, live.
Now, i respect that some of you might disagree with me when i claim that he is the most beautiful man on earth (but he is you’re wrong) I understand you might be into the more tanned, toned, buff and primed to perfection man, who perhaps cleaned his fingernails often, but really? How boring. In my opinion its always the imperfections in people that create the most interesting thing about them, and with this outlook Mr Doherty (prounounced doh-slight c sound-erty as recently told by a fake irish friend of mine) he becomes the most interesting person ever born.
So after a bit of hassle getting to Shepards bush with a friend of mine so scottish you have to ask her to repeat everything she says, even the taggart quote (which she wouldn’t) and hiding our alcohol, which happened to be half a bottle of southern comfort, in a bush (in shepards bush, oh the irony) and entered the standing circle. The support bands were alright, mainly a few old guys trying to relive their former glory, though i must admit when you realise one of the greatest poets alive is back stage you become rather irritated. One of the support acts was a scottish comedian, who got bottled off stage within the first five minutes. Looking around the crowd, it was full of, well. Chav like people. But for once in my life I really wasn’t complaining. You could see that they werereal fans, and not just stupid indie kids pretending that they love him because they’ve somewhat heard of the babyshambles. They got so into it and declared their love for him on plenty of occasions, i even heard one say “if i was a girl i dont know how i would have refrained from fingering myself by now” oh believe me, it was difficult. By the time he finally entered on stage the atmosphere was incredible, i cant even begin to explain the amount of love in that room for a man who seemed so incredibly honest about it. He played Can’t stand me now, What became of the Likely Lads, Last of The English Roses and of course, Music when the light go out. That- was by far the best. You could just hear the emotion in the lyrics, he creates a world in a song that no one else can. The only upsetting moment of the night was the fact that he did not play “Fuck Forever” that would have just put the cherry on top. So when the music did persist, and the lights did in fact come on, i couldn’t help but feel like something was missing. He had been standing a metre or two away from me, close enough to see his tattoos and smell his sweat and now he was gone and all i had left to show for it was a mere memory. Everything we love in life is based upon memories. When we think of life we seem to think we live for the future, but we don’t, We live for what could be and what was, Our fuel is the memories and how we felt when we lived that way, spending the rest of our life desperately trying to recreate it. In the words of Pete:
I want to have a crack before i outgrow this youthful urge to be worshipped.
well i definitely think he achieved that. Long live the spirit of albion.
Thoughts on society
Thoughts come to me sometimes, I mull over entire arguments in my head complete with evidence to back up my claims, yet if i come to debate it with someone, I’m often misunderstood, or they are just ignorant. I’ve come to the conclusion that our society is utterly fucked. For a starting point, we let people rule the country, even without a majority vote. Once the elections over, it’s all down to the inner circle of politics to decided the consolidation of power. They have no physical right to be in charge. They are not so special just because they can manipulate a lie into politics. Their higher education and experience in parliament does not qualify them to rule the masses of people. Real people, most of whom are ignorant to how the system even works. In all seriousness, how do we know for sure? For the most of our knowledge there could be a massive secret being held. We could be ruled by aliens. Theres no evidence to surpass it.
Shallowness, Vanity, Conceitedness. Its all over-rated. The search for ‘inner-beauty’ is ridiculous. There is a reason we look the way we look, and we have animal instincts which make us attracted to certain things, and we shouldn’t be ashamed of it. We should be allowed to value beauty without condemning it for being ‘shallow’ We can’t judge people on personality alone, it’s boring! People who brag that they fall in love with a person’s personality as opposed to their looks are liars. Just because someone is lucky enough to be born beautiful doesn’t make them shallow, and they should not be punished for it. Dress sense, music and personality are all interlinked. Anyone can be beautiful, its about how to present and maintain yourself. It’s all down to personal preference. We all have different perspectives on everything, why should beauty be any different? We should embrace beauty, and not be ashamed to admit confidence without being put down, creating the opposite effect! Is that really what it’s coming to?
Youth Culture is also fucked. It’s said that youth is wasted on the young, but would you have it any other way? The whole point of being young is being reckless. According to the media, children are growing up too soon, and getting into the dangerous habit of binge drinking, smoking ect. The government seem to believe that this can be resolved through education and prohibition; raising the age of consent will fix this problem. Not only are they wrong, they are stupid. Raising the age to buy alcohol and cigarettes will not stop the youth. Education is a good idea because it provides knowledge about the choices, and helps them make a better informed decision, but it should not be done in the patronising and stereotypical way it is now, and even then i doubt it will change much. People seem to think we drink for a depressing subconscious reason- perhaps due to the political side of things - or out of boredom. This is mostly false. We don’t do it to spite you, we do it for fun. If it was more acceptable to be done earlier on you would have done it too. The reason for drinking is the same as adults, and alcohol will always be a big part of the lifestyle; it is addictive after all. Until the masses learn to accept this and educate for the sake of education as opposed to protection, the gradually less corruptive our society will become.
Serotonin - Mystery jets Album review
Serotonin is the 3rd studio album from the london based band the mystery jets, released in april 2010. After recieving the album for christmas, although a big fan of the badn i was skeptical of whether or not it would reach the standards of the two previous albums. Although i had already seen them at reading earlier in the year, it was the first time i had heard any of their new album (without hearing the studio released songs first) so i didnt really pay much attention to the new songs. Though, i have to say, although such songs as young love, two doors down and half in love with elizabeth, this album does have to be by far the best. Not only are the vocals incredible, the melodies and instruments are played so wonderfully it creates such a good vibe which continues flawlessly throughout the album.
My favourite tracks are 1, 4 and 5. The first, ‘Alice Springs’ is a catchy good start to the album which gets you immediatly into the feel of the band. And with hard hitting lyrics such as ‘freedom is an illusion, generated by your brain’ creates a quirky start to the song, followed by ‘ill stand in the line of fire for you,’ in sync with the music creates a powerful combination.
‘Flash a hungry smile’ was the first single off the record and was availiable to download free by jets fans, and received a good reception, with good reason! Again with its quirky and catchy lyrics such as ‘Have you heard the birds and bees, they’ve all caught thier stds’ creates a fun atmosphere in the song which makes easy listening all the more enjoyable!
Though, my favourite track is without a doubt the title track, serotonin. The way such a song is created about a natural chemical experienced in the body makes the easy rhythm and pace of the song an even bigger contrast to the meaning behind it, making it all the more powerful and addictive.
I will have to say serotonin is definitely one of the best albums to come out this year.
Ellie Goulding’s Cover of ‘My Song’
So Saturday Night’s xfactor bought alot of controversy, especially with the departure of aiden on the next day, but one of the things that annoyed me in particular was the fact that the x factor contestants seemed to forget Elton Johns most famous song, Your song. This was, untill I heard Ellie Gouldings cover. (it happens to be on the John Lewis christmas advert but whos chekcing facts)
Alot of people dont like Ellie Goulding, to be sure her voice is a unique one and it isn’t realtively strong, but personally i like the appeal. I like the softenss and tone of her voice and i think it suits the song and she performs it beautifully.
She’s kept to the piano arrangement, but the way she sings it is softer and she’s also changed around the order of some of the verses, which might annoy most devoted Elton John fans, but i find quite refreshing.
Granted, i’m not the biggest Elton John fan in the world, i doubt i would even call myself a fan He needs to go to specsavers, get a stylist, cut his hair and stop making a dick out of himself, but this song is a beautiful one and i have to say i do prefer this arrangement to the original.
One of the reasons I like Ellie goulding is that she doesnt try to be a great singer, she writes her own songs and sings them in her style which is more than i can say for anything thats ever stepped foot out of the x factor doors. Yes they can hold a note but there commercialised and boring and frankly i couldnt care less about any album they release with a title that makes you feel they’ve acheived something.
So, If your in the mood for something that feels christmassy and easy listening of a classic, i reccomend you at least try listening to it, and if you know that Ellie Goulding is NOT your taste in music dont even bother Youtubing it, it would probably just annoy you, because lets face it its not too different from her other stuff.
My Guilty pleasure
So, the midnight beast became internet sensations by posting thier paraody of Ke$ha’s tiktok on youtube. Not only have they made parodies of other well known pop songs but thier own songs, made in a joking way of course. ‘Booty Call’ was thier first actually realeased on itunes.
The midnight beast conjur smiliar attitudes that marmite does, you either love them or you hate them. Many people probably dont agree with me, but personally i love them. Thier light hearted lyrics and synthesised music goes well with the videos, comicaly themed.
Not only are thier parodies well thought out and clever, the members of this so called band are also very talented. the main ‘singer’ Stefan was in a band before TMB called the clik clik, where he shows off his talent for singing and guitar, and he also plays the ukelele.
You may find thier music annoying and stupid, but it’s also very catchy and does not dissapoint of you are looking to be put in a good mood or made laugh.
The Boys seem relatively down to earth and sincerly funny guys, its just up to you what you think of them.
SO is it love or hate?
The Pretty Reckless?
So, its true that a lot of people hate her, heres a girl whos barely 17, dresses like a slut and who’s in a band with a bunch of bearded men whilst her lyrics are rather provocative. True. Still, you can’t deny the girl has talent. Believe it or not she does write her own music and her voice isnt half bad. The music isn’t either. Sure she plays too much into the image of rock and roll. She classifies it as something that makes her cool, which gives most people the opposite impression.
The main reason people have such an issue with taylor Momsen being as ‘rock and roll’ as she is in aminly because of the image she first had during gossip girls first ever season. Pretty mucha different girl all together.
You can hate the image she as, the way she portrays herself, you can even hate her music and have your own justified reason, but you can’t deny that the girl has talent. Shes also not that ugly either. Shes got this far, and had this much success, surely there must be a justified reason?
My review on Reading Festival
I know that its a bit late coming, and this might be the shittest review/article you’ve ever read, but i thought i’d just state my opinion.
I personally enjoyed my reading experience, it was the first time i ever went to a festival and i cannot tell you how much i was looking forawrd to it, and with good reason. Not only was it the higlight of my summer, pretty much the highlight of my year, and anything ive done for the past 5 years.
After the stress of nearly not getting a ticket and buying a tent at the last minute, the day had finally arrived. I decided to be a bit of an idiot and stayed up till 3 packing my bag of the things i bought last minute, then woke up at 5 to start the long(ish) journey to reading. Equipped with radio 1 and a ton of sleeping bags in Tamsin’s mums tiny car we set off. Of course it decided to rain and by the time we were queing the mud was incredible. Getting stuck in the queue was only the beginning. We decieded to camp in long grass, which quickly became a marshland with the rising water level, especially seeing as my teepee had no inner layer.
Let me just say, after this muddy first festival experience it was well worthit. The amount of bands i saw over 3 days could be anough to last any other person a lifetime, however instead of putting me off it made me want more. The atmosphere of a load of people who gathered simply to listen to music and mosh made it an amazing experience, and not only that but i managed to witness one of the most awaited re unions in good music today.
The Libertines. People can speak for themself with thier own attitudes but for me, it was everything people were hoping for and more. The atmosphere was incredibly, the crowd was excited and heckling became louder and louder, but for reading it wasnt ruined, it made it better. When Pete and Carl were re united on stage they seemed better than ever and not one person around me was disapointed. The crowd was reckless but again, it was better than way, even though riots were started in the front and the libs had to go off stage then re enter in the middle of ‘Tell The King.’
For me, Don’t Look Back Into The Sun was the most memorable moment of the entire trip. I just remember being a bit drunk, singing along and it being an exrtremely happy moment. I also believed i ju ped on a random blokes shoulder (as you do with festivalling) for most of it.
Anyway, before i bore you even more than was my recap of reading, and my personal view
So According to my journalism teacher
If i want to become a serious journalist i should probably start a blog in which i write articles and things about what im interested.
Seeing as my other blog was not exactly, serious, ive decided to start a new one.
I could not give a flying fuck whether you would like to follow me, this is simply so that i can have a career and possibly a place in university.
I might add that this blog will mainly be about music and festivals.
Maybe the odd political rave and fashion related post,
But mainly Music, that includes my opinion, gig reviews, CD reviews
and maybe if im not a total screwhead ill get the odd interview.
